Devon Farquharson

Thank you for stopping by my website. This internet radio station started out as  a joke. A group of "techies" and myself from my former job started a competition to build different types of servers and applications on the internet. We built websites and FTP sites and hosted them from our homes, making various remote desktop connections from anywhere on the internet. Then one day the question was asked, What next? Without thinking, I said an internet radio station hosted from our homes, playing the music we want to hear. Everyone thought I was crazy and no one took up the challenge. So off on a solo trip I went. My first disappointment came when I stopped at Amazon. COM to purchase a book ,"How to Build Internet Radio Stations For Dummies"...there was none. I started surfing the internet for information and found bits and pieces here and there. I spent many sleepless nights, staying up until 2am or 3am fighting this project. Many times I wondered if I had "bit off more than I could chew." Just the thought of failure motivated me to stay up even later at nights, searching, researching, trying and testing. Then one night, I heard sounds coming from the speakers.  Yes, I did it!  With a sigh of relief,  I went to bed around 4:30 am.  I arrived at work the next day ready to unveil my accomplishment.  Oh how disappointed I was when no sound came out of the speakers on my desk. The next three weeks were spent enjoying my radio station from home and calling friends and let them listen on the phone. While listening, I was fighting and trying to figure out the Domain Name Resolution (DNS) issue I was having. One night I set up a play list and  we were able to listen the next day at work. I still was not satisfied...I wanted live streaming. At this point , many of you might have thought I accomplished the mission. I still was not satisfied...I wanted live streaming. The next week and a half of staying up late at nights brought success. It was a Saturday morning when Al called to tell me he was picking up a live stream. I felt a load was lifted off my shoulders. Where do we go from here I do not know. First, I need to gather a large listener base: this can be accomplished by playing what you want to hear. Visit the Guest Book section and leave us your comments. If you need more space, send us an email-we will respond. You also can help us by calling at least one person and tell that individual about the station. Special Thanks to Al, DJ, Greg, and the chief of all geeks...Dale-without your help I could not have made it.

I also appreciate Gabriel Technology Group for supplying the needed bandwidth to allow more listeners to connect and enjoy www.CoolandDeadlyreggae.com
